Transmission Repair & Rebuilds in Nederland
A slip or a harsh shift does not automatically mean a rebuild. The simple causes are ruled out first, and only then do you get the cost of repairing, rebuilding or swapping the unit.

Revs rise but speed does not
Slipping, often from low fluid or worn clutch packs.
Hard, late or flared shifts
Can be a solenoid, the fluid or software rather than internal damage.
Red fluid under the vehicle
Leaks from cooler lines, the pan gasket or axle seals starve the transmission.
A burnt smell after towing
Overheated fluid loses its protective properties quickly.
Four-wheel drive will not engage
Transfer case, actuator or shift motor faults, common on trucks that rarely use it.
How the work is approached
Fluid level and condition, leaks, stored codes and a road test come first. A good share of complaints are settled at this stage with a leak repair, a fluid correction or a solenoid.
If the problem is internal, you get three prices: repairing the failed section, rebuilding your unit, and fitting a replacement unit, each with the time off the road. Manual gearboxes, clutches and transfer cases are quoted the same way.
After the work, the fluid is set to the correct level at operating temperature and the vehicle is driven through every gear, including four-wheel-drive engagement where fitted.
What your quote will list
- Initial checks and road test
- Repair, rebuild and replacement, each priced
- Fluid set to specification at operating temperature
- A road test through every gear before pickup
Covered after the repair
Transmission repairs carried out here come with a 12-month, 12,000-mile warranty on the work, so if the repair itself lets you down inside that window, it comes back to us.
Useful details for the call
Explain when it happens: cold or warm, under load or cruising, and in which gears. Say whether the vehicle tows and whether four-wheel drive is involved. If another shop has already quoted a rebuild, mention it; a second look sometimes finds a simpler cause.
If the transmission fluid has ever been changed, or never has, that is useful to know too. Fluid history affects both the likely cause and the safest way to service it now.
Questions about this repair
Will a fluid change cure slipping?
Only if low or badly degraded fluid was the cause. Worn clutches are not revived by fresh fluid. Testing shows which case you are in.
Should I keep driving it while I decide?
As little as possible. Slipping generates heat, and heat speeds up the damage, which can turn a repairable fault into a replacement.
Do you work on manual gearboxes and clutches too?
Yes. Clutch replacement, manual gearbox faults and transfer cases are priced and handled the same way as automatics.
